City Bar and Allies Call for Campaign Finance Reform in New York, Including Enforcement With Teeth | New York Law Journal – Law.com

The New York City Bar Association and several advocacy groups on Thursday called for an overhaul of campaign finance oversight in New York, arguing that one of the two agencies tasked with oversight is unable to “meaningfully enforc[e] the law” against the candidates and committees it regulates.

In a statement, the organizations—including the Brennan Center, Citizens Union, Common Cause, League of Women Voters NY, New York Public Interest Research Group and Reinvent Albany—said that the Chief Enforcement Counsel of the State Board of Elections is “designed for inaction.”
